Illusion vs. Reality

I read a story of a man who was in WWII in China. There were Chinese who were fighting alongside the American Troops. One Chinese man befriended the American Captain and somehow showed him to see through the eyes of God.

God would never see war for He is Peace. He would see beauty where it appeared that destruction was all around – in other words the American soldier saw through the illusion of war and was able to see the beauty of flowers on a mountainside. When confronted by death, a Presence (perhaps an angel) came to him on the battlefield and he “knew” that Life was eternal and that seeming death was an illusion.

My great desire is to “see” through the illusions i.e. lack, limitation, sickness, loneliness, fear, etc. and “see” the reality of the Kingdom of Heaven hear and now. In God there are no illusions. Illusions are like things that wave their hands in front of us saying “Pay attention to me!”. God is Reality – life – abundance – joy – peace. We recognize a veil (a belief) over our eyes as we see the Reality of a Kingdom that has no end, and that Kingdom is within us. Our recognition of Truth removes the veil.

By Grace

There is nothing I do, or anything I have

That qualifies me for your throne.

It is all by grace that I stand

I receive your life, I receive your love

I receive your forgiveness to stand

As a child of God, accepted and loved

It is all by grace that I stand

There is nothing I do, nor anything I have

That qualifies me for your throne.

You have given to me your life and love

It is all by grace that I stand.

It is all by grace, it is all thru love

That I stand forgiven and cleansed

Called to live, in the Kingdom of God

It is all thru grace that I stand.

As I enter your Kingdom

I receive new life:  I exchange my

Rags for your throne.

My robes are worn thru the grace you gave

It is all thru grace that I stand.

Ere I think that anything I could do

Would earn me the right to your throne

To sit with you in the kingdom of God

I know its thru grace that I stand.

Joy in the Morning

My dear son who I love, came downstairs this morning as I was reading. This was his first appearance in new day.
My greeting to him was “Hi sweetheart, how are you?”

Then I heard His (God’s voice) speaking deep within: “You express love for your family in many words of endearment-
each uniquely for them- I would have you greet Me each day with sweet expressions of love.  Delight in My presence
within and without. Do not let your days and nights remain void of your awareness of Me. It brings Me joy when you
acknowledge our Oneness. Tell Me of your love.”

“You dear child must know that when you express love to anyone you are as I Am – Love Being! Be a Joy Bringer of Love.
I take great delight in love expressed!”

The Sweet Peas

You are in an enclosed garden. A gentle breeze blows, and sweetness fills your senses. It is like honey, roses, romance, gentle and strong at once. As you turn to see what wonders are about, a lanky green vine is before your eyes, covered in round blossoms of many colors, with a decided purple strain. Many wandering tendrils reach out to grasp a new handhold. Vines wrap themselves around a wooden statue of an angel, who’s wings outstretched are a covering over your seat. There is great peace here.

Nature's Birth 11x17Giclee

Can you smell them?

Above is our newest Fine Art Print, made simply of Sweet Peas, entitles “Nature’s Birth”.

Sweet Peas are so delicate, so utterly feminine. The scent of these flowers is heady, heavy, profuse and sweetly strong. when you are around their place you will notice their aroma, you will know you’ve come into their territory; altogether lovely; whimsical and somehow Victorian.

The name Sweet Pea means “delicate pleasures.” They are simple, wispy, delicate climbers. In our garden they bloom profusely all summer – living under our Aspen trees in mostly indirect light, gentle, breezes blowing around them-they love the place.

The Sweet Pea’s binomial name is Lathyrus odoratus, and is a member of the Fabaceae family, or the Legume family.  Also in the Legume family are alfalfa, clover, peas, lentils, beans, lupines (which grow wild here in Idaho), mesquite, carob, soy, and peanuts (Wikipedia). Sweet peas are annuals, or they die every winter, but if their seed is allowed to fall, a rich new crop should appear next spring. Native plants are supposed to originate in the Mediterranean Region with purple flowers, however there are very many colors available from cultivated plants. For more information Click Here .

The characteristics of the Sweet Pea show aspects of God, its creator. It is gentle, lovely, living upward, many faceted in colors and has a fragrance that has never been duplicated or captured in a perfume.

Enjoy.

Believe Like a Child

A child doesn’t know “how” what he asks for will be given – he just asks, believes and receives.
One big problem I see is the trying to figure out “how” these requests I make will happen.
I need to “let” them happen.

All My Children... Book Cover

All My Children Shall Be Taught By Me! (God)- cover

Camilla

Camilla is or was a real nun. I am simply quoting this article written by Walter Lanyon because it is wonderful. The completeness and simplicity of her faith is truly a testimony. May we all come to know Him as He is. Camilla comes from a book called A Royal Diadem by Walter Lanyon, here it is.

CAMILLA

CAMILLA is not a story book character, she is not a creature manufactured to suit the issue, she is a real, live woman – - a nun, living in an old grey stone convent which is situated on a beautiful mountain which overlooks the winding Moselle River.

We met her one morning coming from the little chapel where she had been at prayer. It was a clear morning with a high blue sky, the faint perfume of wild mountain flowers and vegetation was in the air – - the year was at spring. As she stepped out into the open she seemed to fit perfectly with the setting, as if she were the personification of youth eternal. As she passed us she did not shyly cast her eyes to the ground, but looked up at us with wide blue eyes – - eyes full of lovely fearlessness, eyes full of depth and wonder; eyes of youth with the wisdom of the ages shining through them. This woman had youth in her grasp – - clear, firm, white skin with a transparency to it; lips red and full of expression – - youth was so evident that it made itself felt.

“Not a minute over eighteen,” said one of us. But Camilla was a woman who would soon count her years sixty. Later in the day I talked with her, and here is how she did it.

“At twenty I found myself practically an old woman, both in mind and body. I was weary and life was more or less of a burden to me, and it was at this time I became a nun. Soon after I began to study the ‘Word’ it came to me that I had never really lived, that the sense of fleeting youth which I had was nothing but a shadow – - a shadow of the real youth which was eternal and everlasting. I soon realized that God could not grow old, not in the sense of decay; that nature never grew old – - she renewed herself annually – - and gradually I came to know that if God could not grow old, that Man – - His idea and image and likeness – - could not age.

“In seeking the Kingdom of Heaven first, we are told that all things shall be added to us. In seeking the Kingdom of Heaven we are seeking youth, joy, harmony, happiness. The Kingdom is not made up of aged persons, it is vibrant with youth eternal; and finally I began to realize that I was a part of the Kingdom of Heaven and that in reality I was only seeking my true self.

“‘Seek and ye shall find; knock and it shall be opened unto you; ask and ye shall receive,’ so I went forth seeking the real life. As God was everywhere present I found Him expressed in all nature. I found Him expressed in His universe – - and I was of His universe, in fact I was a part of it – - not apart from it. Just like the lovely force which impelled the rose to cover her vines with snowy white blossoms, I found that power growing and growing in me, swelling up in me, until one day I felt the complete thrill – - the ‘Divine spark’ – - which awakened in me and made me feel this rejuvenation taking place. God is everywhere and He is life eternal and youth eternal. If He is eternal youth and is everywhere I could literally bathe in youth. Not only that, but I felt I was a part of the whole scheme and drew my life, my vitality, my youth, from the same source which impelled the whole plan. Yonder on the mountain the grey mist hovered and swayed over the crest, the sun plunged through it and then the blue patch showed in the distance. The heather on the foothills was like a flash of purple, the white hawthorn tree glistened in the warm sun, and I a part of it all, vibrated with youth eternal.”

“I learned to love it all – - love the whole plan like one loves the members of his own household – - nothing was unlovely when viewed rightly and everything yielded to the touch of it gentleness – - the touch of love. If it rained I went about my duties with a feeling that everything was being purified – - that everything was being filled full of purity – - and I too drank deeply of purity. If the sun poured down upon me, I felt it making a halo about me of pure gold – - gold that would endure. I felt it sifted joy all about me and filled the throats of the birds with glorious notes, and so I sang and thrilled for life. If the wind blew and raged about, I was happy yet in the thought that things were being changed about. This was a readjustment; old dead leaves were caught up and carried off – - dust was moved from secluded corners – - readjustment was taking place – - and so I felt the readjustment enter me – - the power to say, ‘Not mine – - but thine be done.’ In winter when the snow fell I knew that everything in this universe was busily engaged working and studying, unfolding and getting ready for greater growth.

And so I learned from the weather that after all it was but for a lesson to us – - that we should rejoice regardless what the manifestation was. Further I began to realize that not only was I seeking youth, happiness, harmony, but that I was youth, happiness, harmony.”

Just then a band of happy youngsters came running up the hill and caught Camilla in their arms – - grabbing onto her long black skirts – - youth had sought youth and found it and bore her off down into the flower – - dotted valley. Camilla was sixty – - the world called her sixteen.

Bible Study #1,Hearing the Voice of God

Recently I did a Bible study with a group of kids.  Present were 4 children, ages 1, 3, 8, and 10.  We began with a prayer, then read aloud All My Children Shall Be Taught By Me! (God) by Jane E. Pierce.  I asked the kids to listen carefully and have some questions ready at the end of the story.  It turns out that kids do listen and they are more perceptive than one who isn’t around kids all the time (me) might think.

Jane’s book introduces people to God, and invites them to begin relationship with Him. God assures His children that He will talk to them if they believe, which is true.  He also assures them that He is love and will never say anything hurtful or unkind.  So the 10 year old asks:  “How do we know if its God talking to us or just our conscience?” This is sort of a broad question, but I answered by saying this, in essence: “That’s why we have the Bible.  It is full of stories about God and how He dealt with His people throughout history.  The things He did and said reveal His character or nature.  To know which voice it is, you need to know God’s character, so study the Bible.”  I remembered that on page 29 of All My Children… God says, “When you love I am giving it to you to give to others.  I do everything in love.  I am love.  Since we, you and I, are One, you are love too!”  1 Corinthians 13 is a description of God’s love.  The best description of God’s love there ever could be is Jesus.  When man, God’s perfect creation became corrupt, God donned a body, took upon Himself all of nasty humanity (separateness from God),and killed it forever by His death on the cross.  This put man back where He was before, in perfect union and oneness with God and his fellow man.  All the time Jesus was on the earth, He was showing forth God’s nature, healing, delivering, restoring, loving, even before His Passion.  Does anything say “I love you” more than that?

Jesus asked the Father for this right before His crucifixion:  “Neither pray I for these alone, but for them also which shall believe on Me through their word; That they all may be one; as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee, that they also may be one in us:  that the world may believe that thou hast sent me.  And the glory which thou gavest me I have given them; that they may be one, even as we are one:  I in them and thou in me, that they may be perfect in one; and that the world may know that thou has sent me, and hast loved them, as thou hast loved me.  Father, I will that they also, whom thou hast given me, be with me where I am; that they may behold my glory, which thou hast given me:  for thou lovedst me before the foundation of the world.  O righteous Father, the world hath not known thee: but I have known thee, and these have known that thou hast sent me.  And I have declared unto them thy name, and will declare it:  that the love wherewith thou hast loved me may be in them, and I in them.” –John 17: 20-26

There is a long list of scriptures that talk about the love and nature of God:  1John 3,4, 5; James 3:17 “But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, and easy to be intreated, full of mercy and good fruits without partiality, and without hypocrisy.  And the fruit of righteousness is sown in peace of them that make peace.”, The book of Colossians, Galatians, Ephesians etc.

Another kid asked:  “If we are the branches and God is the trunk, can the branches break off the trunk?  Good question.  I told it this way:  If you decided you wanted to leave your mom and dad’s house and be part of a different family it would be very hurtful to your parents, and you might feel totally separated and different, but you really could not be part of a different family.  That made sense, but my brain wanted to go into detail, so I began telling of Abraham and how God picked Him out, and told Him He would be a great nation, even though Sarah was barren.  How Abraham believed God and indeed God formed the nation of Israel from that promise.  How they did not receive Jesus, so the rest of the world was invited in (all part of God’s great plan from the beginning) and that we were “grafted in”, Ephesians, 2:11-22.  They nodded their heads in understanding, but I quickly went back to my first statement, realizing it to be the best answer.  There will be many opportunities for the background later, plus I could learn something from their simplicity and candid responses.

“Theater of Operation”

When I asked the Lord “When I pray, who am I supposed to talk to?  The Father, Holy Spirit, or Jesus?”
He said: “We all pick up the phone at the same time, Jane!”

So then I asked Him the question I really wanted to know:

“Lord, please show me what it means that ‘the kingdom of heaven is within you.’”

His answer: “It depends on your perception.” “Ike.”

Interpretation:  During WWII the entire world was involved in the war, but there were different “theaters” of operation, such as the Pacific theater, the European theater, etc.  Each commander in those theaters faced unique problems and issues.  He (Ike) was only responsible for his own theater, and could not issue commands outside of it.  It would create total confusion if McArthur issued commands from the Pacific to Europe, for example.

Our realm of responsibility and authority is given by the Lord, and we are responsible only for it. (Harold Eberle uses the Greek word “metron” to describe the same concept.

The Lord only gives us knowledge, wisdom and power to operate in our own theater. “In my Father’s house are many mansions.” If “so and so” does something else, “what is that to you, you follow me.”

Today He spoke to Matt about Johnny Appleseed.

Interpretation:  Both Johnny and Ike are the same answer.

We looked at the Walt Disney cartoon of Johnny Appleseed.  It is the story of a real person who was called to plant trees through the Midwest and West. It was definitely a Christian testimony of faith and courage, as well as single-mindedness. He didn’t care but his little area of responsibility, apple trees, but the Lord took it nationwide.

As we watched, Jane said, “This is like George Washington Carver”, who asked the Lord, “Please show me the secrets of the universe.”  The Lord answered, “That is too big for you. I will show you the secrets of the peanut.”

The Lord will reveal to us all we need to know, and as much detail and depth as we care to learn about, within the area he has chosen for us. However, He is not interested in teaching us theology or esoteric, ethereal knowledge, even if it is about Him. He is practical and wants us to be focused and bear fruit in the realm to which we have been called and anointed.

He also wants us to be happy and content.

The little song: “The Lord is Good to me” captures the simple pleasure of trusting Him for the things we need (within our area of responsiblity).

“The Lord is good to me.
And so I thank the Lord.
For giving me the things I need.
The sun, the rain, and the apple seed.
The Lord is good to me.”

It drives away sorrow to know we are in the right place, doing the right thing, and we can trust Him to provide all we need for that task, and He will show us all we need to know within our realm (theater) of operations.

The endless quest for knowledge and understanding only brings frustration and emptiness. “Ever learning and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.”

He (Jesus) is the truth. He is all we need to know. He is our shepherd.

Princess or Camel?

You can’t be a princess if you’re a camel.

Interpretation:  Release from yourself all false concepts of who you are and come as you ARE (a Prince or Princess of God) -release the  baggage.

A New Day

Today is a brand-new day.  The Christmas stockings are up, the tree is down.  I have put on my new clothes and begun a new life. Even the trees are clapping and shouting “Hooray!” You know that feeling you get when you arise out of bed and you have no memories of the past, and no pressures for the future? All there is is now.

Do you suppose trees have a memory? Not a chance. Always reaching for the sun, trees ever embrace the now of life. If it rains, they drink, if the sun is shining, they stretch our their arms and soak it in. When the clouds are overhead, no worries, they share their beautiful leaves with us anyway for the sun will be out again tomorrow.

Jesus tells us: “Come to me all you who are weary and heavy laden and I will give you rest.” He will plant us like a great tree, giving us water in due season, and plenty of sunshine, so that we may love Him more. In Him there is no yesterday, and our tomorrows are tied to His, which can only be good! We have but to stretch our arms out today, soak in the sun, or rest in the shade, and express the inner life that is His life.

Let us come then, lay down our burdens, and begin a new life, in His care.
